This brings a sense of gratification from social media. If applied to a brand page (or even your blogs) this certainly helps in attracting more people to your content.

It formss a kind of one-to-one relation between the consumer and brands. They want to know everything, good, bad and ugly about the brand. They have lot of questions which might appear stupid but they have those questions.

A tight and prompt response makes them believe they are being heard and that goes down very well with them. Here you trigger a small web of information exchange and set a ball rolling in to your brand area. Whenever one will hear about your brand he/she is sure to mention how prompt the brand was on its Facebook page.

Though I am not a marketing or brand guy, but I think this is how it should work.

Re: The basics of formal communication

A brilliant piece :)

Re: The basics of formal communication

I see a leader being born. There are two Facebook - the one that connects me to friends and families as as individual and the second one - that connects me to a brand or organisation as a customer. While the previous seems to be going steady and nicely, the second one seemed to have been invaded by brands and organisations actively seeking everybody's 'likes' and 'comments'. The ploys are almost the same everywhere. I have written about fb contests that we don't want to participate in. http://t.co/uJKl2ULJ

Facebook needs to encourage brands and organisations to look at other benefits than likes or sales. The sudden emphasis on ads (now even individuals are encouraged to promote updates) and commercial rather than the Facebook of yesteryear when it was encouraging the 'individual' is something to ponder about. Do we see a Facebook - the commerce site, than Facebook - where my friends are?

Re: An open letter to Mark Zuckerberg

Good one :-) Nicely summarised the importance of a more personalised, insightful interactions of brands to consumers rather than the number of "Likes" :-)

Re: My ‘Socratic Dialogue’ with Rajesh on Facebook Engagement

This is a good post.
